Lloyd Dynamowerke GmbH which is a prestigious supplier of Motors and Generators with over 100 years of experience in the manufacturing of large and complex machines from its workshop premises located in Bremen at the Northern part of Germany; has been awarded the supply of propulsion motors for the Belgian and Royal Netherlands Navy “This is an important milestone in the new history of LDW and underscores our intention to endeavor on markets where LDW has proven to have the right set of knowledge and experience” said Dr. Maximilian Lachenmaier, Managing Director of LDW. “We are proud to be awarded to supply such a critical component on the vessel and look forward to partner with ABB and DAMEN in this journey”.
Over the next 5 years LDW will supply the electrical propulsion motors and generators for the PTI/PTO system for a total of 4 anti-submarine warfare frigates. The solution is based on a make-to-fit Permanent Magnet Motor which enables a compact footprint while delivering the best power efficiency. The design has been comprehensively proved and accepted by DAMEN.
“We see many synergies with our PM Motors and the power efficiency in the maritime industry. This technology helps our customers to reduce considerably the footprint and the weight of the motors and as such to impact considerably in the reduction of CO2 emissions. This is a topic that is making the headline in most of the new ship designs and we see many more to come” added Jose Molina, Business Development Manager
